Having lived in both Vancouver and Toronto (which really offers every single style of Asian cuisines), there are measures that I can use to judge an Asian restaurant. The atmosphere which includes decor, lighting and overall environment/mood, the service which includes the professionalism and friendliness of staff, cleanliness and overall impression of staff and last but not the least, the quality of the food.

In all 3 of these categories, Shanghai Restaurant stood out as having very unique flavors that goes beyond the run of the mill Chinese restaurants. While preserving the classical traditional tastes of Asian cuisine, the Shanghai also contains the exciting that can be found and categorized as Asian Fusion.

The decor was just amazing. There is not much one can say except to recommend that you go there to view the restaurant yourself.

The service was professional yet friendly. While maintaining the classy style and professionalism of a high end restaurant, the staff certainly was fully able to guide a client through the preferences of any novice Asian cuisine diner.

Again, many things in life can not be fully explained or experienced by reading letters and words, highly recommend that you try it for yourself.

Excellent food and unique flavors. Not your run-of-the-mill Chinese food! Each dish was special in some way. Beautiful presentation, generous portions.
